The Daughter of Ireland Rosette represents the family tree that is held strong by female-Irish hands and by the female-Irish strength of will.
Son of Ireland Rosette
The Son of Ireland Rosette is a stylize representation of the targe of Sir Neil O’Neil, the hero of the Battle of Boyne. A protrait of O’Neil by artist John Michael Wright in about 1680 emphasizes the significance of O’Neil’s shield in that it is thought to be a coded symbol of a triumph over persecutors. The rosette is designed in a double circular fashion with radiating flanges to the four compass directions as is the shield's motif. The caubeen uses the IR style as shown below.
